Cooe:
It may pass in the CPU and RAM areas but we still have no idea what type of graphics card these units will have, and second of all the units don't have built-in CD drives so unless you want to lug around a external one wherever you go makes you wonder if it's just a better idea to play it on your desktop...
Actually we do, I had done a term paper on graphics processors of current "computers" (blanket term there) The data is out there... better yet i'll post part of the paper.
The graphics for the Q1 will be run by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
900, which is capable of using DirectX 9. The GMA 900 is designed
to work with Pentium 4 class processors to do graphical processing.
With the GMA, 3D processing is broken up into four stages. That
first stage, the geometrical processing is done by the CPU and the integrated
graphical processor then follows by completing the vertex processing,
texture application and rasterization, which are the other three layers.
The GMA has four pixel pipelines and a GPU that runs at 333 MHz.
The GMA also offers a maximum of 128mb integrated video memory.
TabletKiosk EO contains VIA’s
VN800 chipset which is optimized for low power consumption. The
chipset includes the VIA UniChrome Pro integrated graphics processor.
The graphics processor contains a 200 MHz processor, 128-bit 2D/3D graphics
engine, and has an internal data flow equivalent to the latest AGP 8X
graphics cards.
CD drives, my thoughts on those, basically the UMPC is supposed to be
"ultra mobile" adding a CD drive reminds me of my old Sony Walkman w/
Skip Protection. IMO don't add more than is necessary.
