    i have a Q1bWITH 03EA BIOS, i installed both a 1gb and a 2gb stick and the screen does NOT turn on and all i get is that little blue light bulb is lit up...??? i think i hear the hard drive..win xp

Make sure the memory is fully inserted.  I had a similar issue with my Q1U when I first put in a 2gb stick.

Would either of the following work as an upgrade for my Q1u?

Your second link seems to be the the same item I bought from frys.com last June and installed in my Q1ultra -- Patriot PC5300 2GB SODIMM -- but newegg has a much better price.
