Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
i got my Q1U at launch in the US, so that may explain why i have to use a different PLL.
it also starts to become unstable for me at 1050MHz (131/262) by having a couple BSOD's. so it looks as if for now we may only be able to OC up to 1GHz.
i took minor steps up going > 900 > 1000 > 1050 instead of 1 huge jump at once.
this is nice little program hopefully it will get continued support & add alot more functionality that it's missing, but for now at least it does the basics very well.

Anyone know which one to use for the Fujitsu U810. It has the A110 in it.

Like Tizo, I was an early adopter and picked up my q1u last June. I sure love running at one gig, it makes vongo/downloaded DRM protected movies fly using wmp.

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
Stable at 127.1/254.1, giving 1016,6 Mhz.
Vista Evaluation (2GB RAM):
Before: 2.0-4.5-2.1-2.6-3.4-> 2.0
After: 2.4-4.9-3.7(!)-2.8-3.4->2.4
A bit hotter... but no so much as my Vaio UX91 1,33Ghz (upg. 80gb HDD)
Thanks!![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)
By the way: any solution to keep FSB config after restart?

Brilliant stuff going to try it soon, anyone thought about fan and cooling mods/upgrades yet and what they might give in extra power?

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
This totally works!!! I'm going to keep it at 900mzh. Does anyone know how to make the settings stick? A reboot of windows the setting's will stick, but once the system is powered off, it goes back to default.
Also I have noticed that without any tweaks, my Qu1-V's cpu speed is at 600mzh, even if the cpu goes 100%. I was actually happy with a straight 800mzh fulltime. I changed this in the power options in the control panel to always go 100% cpu even on battery.
Thanks, Maniaxe.

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
I am interested to run my Q1U at 250mhz. Anyone knows if this program can be used for underclocking ? 5 hour extended battery life for Q1U is ok. But occassionally, I need more. An additional possibility of running the standard battery to 5 hours would also be very cool.

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
To reply to the above post, yes, it can be used to under clock- I could get it as low as 71.1 MHz FSB which translates to 568 MHz, 426 MHz if you lock the multiplier to 6x. I have the slg505yc256bt PLL and even if I tried setting it lower, it wouldn't go below 71.1 MHz.
On the high side, though, 2.5, 5.9, 4.2, 2.8, 3.4 at 1040MHz with 2GB pqi DDR2 800 MHz RAM.
I never thought I'd see a 5.9 come out of these machines in any of the rankings... incredible, and thanks for finally figuring out how to get SetFSB to work on the Q1 Ultra.

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
How do you tell what clock generator you have and get this to work? Both the SLG505YC256BT and the SLG505YC56DT settings are able to correctly read my FSB settings (CV* gives me a PLL id error). However, whenever I try and apply new settings (or even reapply the same ones back), the computer locks up a second after I hit 'Set FSB' - I know its not overheating, since it does this even if I set the values to be 'normal' or underclocked.
Anyone else having this probem or who has an idea of what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks! Zithras
(I have a new Samsung Q1 SSDXP, if that makes a difference)

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
This small program really makes impressive improvement. Q1u XP with 2gb clocked at 780-1040 MHz (speedstep) running smoothly, faster than tc1100 with 1GHz pentium M (older geforce4go 32mb). No noticable heat issue, no blue screen of death :) and yes the camera works smoothly too...

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
Got a Q1U-V, came with 1024mb-sodimm PC2-4300/266Mhz, reinstall WinXP tablet got setfsb to work with CV174CPAG, but have the same issue as I reboot, the setting did not stick. I've disabled Batterymanager/SpeedStep just so that it did not override setfsb, but that's not the problem, fsb just default back to its original setting.
Question, I'm trying to monitor the core temperature of Intel A110 ( ftp://download.intel.com/design/mobile/datashts/31690801.pdf ), I've tried pcwizard2008 (did not report core/cpu temp), CoreTemp (doesn't work for A110), SpeedFan (did not report core/cpu temp). What software is everyone using to monitor the core/cpu temperature?
Another Question: I have conflicting info in regard to the max memory the motherboard can hold disregard of OS/Bios. The manufacturer of course said 1gb and warranty void if upgrade, I've heard people did 2gb. PC Wizard 2008 reported that the memory controller can handle 3072 kb. Furthermore, if I can upgrade to 2gb, can I use PC2-5300/667Mhz or PC2-6400/800Mhz instead of PC2-4300?

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
NHC (notebook hardware control) displayed temperature information for my Q1U-V. As long as all of the ventilation ducts and fans are not clogged and "functional", it is unlikely that the Q1U-V will overheat after it's been overclocked (unless you leave it running something on a fuzzy surface like carpet).
Generally, overclock settings will not stick after a reboot, you just have to manually reapply the settings each time. If you hibernate the unit, the settings should stick.
The max amount of RAM that the Q1U will be able to use at the moment is 2gb as 4gb units do not exist yet. When upgrading the ram, PC2-5300 is compatible but the unit will not operate at the higher ram speed. Any ram should work as long as it is DDR2 200-pin ram.
I've changed the RAM, HDD, and WLAN card in my Q1U-V and Samsung still repaired it under warranty. Just make sure that the original components are put back before servicing the unit. I have since gotten a refund on that unit since it was one of the first batches that Samsung shipped: the ones with tons of problems.

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
I have a Samsung Q1 Ultra for 1 month and i overclock my cpu to 125.1= 1Ghz
Cpu tmp = 67C MAX (Full strength) 51C MIN (no strength).
i want to change the heatsink of the Q1 cpu for more overclock,
is there some one how made changes in the heatsink of the Q1?
it's look like Samsung didn't think enough on the heatsink (i will try upgrade it).
my goal is 1.3Ghz like the Q1 Ultra Premium.
i have Q1 Ultra with 2GB (pc2-5300 667Mhz) 1Ghz and want more :-)

Re: Overclocking Q1U INTEL A110, DONE!
Hi,
I'm overclocking my Q1U-XP whenever I need more performance. With SetFSB automated batch file for overclock and underclock, its very useful to overclock..
About the difference: YES, there is a remarkable difference between the overclocked performance and the normal. I set FSB to 130.1 max with a CPU speed 1040Mhz and it's enough even for all kind of movies and applications..
By the way, for those, who are experiencing problems with playing movies, I would suggest using Vista Codec Pack by Shark007.net (for both XP and Vista) and/or Videolan application instead of Media Player. Even in not overclocked mode, movies Play very well and smooth..
Back to the overclock, I've also experienced some problems first time I tried to overclock the Q1U. The problem was that the device got freezed when I try to set FSB even 0.1Mhz higher. The solution is simple. Before changing the FSB, unplug the device from the adapter, set the power setting to customized with CPU speed set to Auto or minimum. Change the FSB using SetFSB and afterwardsset the powersetting to Maximum performance and when you need, plug in the adapter. That solved the problem with freezing..
I've never experienced any heat issue, even in stress testing the device. The max CPU temp I've seen was 70C. For the heatsink, I can not make a healty comment, since the device is so small and a modification can result in unrepearable solution since the CPU is solded on the mainboard..
I can help to those who have issues with Q1U but I heavily suggest using XP and upgrading the RAM to 2 Gb first of all..
