    Dual Monitors

Has there been any thought to using the Origami interface as a touch controller for a Media Center PC?  Specifically, the problem I have is with a custom built rack mounted HTPC with a 7" touch screen and a Projector with a 100" screen.  If I set the resolution of the PC to a minimum 1280x720 with the graphics card set in clone mode, everthing on the 7" screen is almost microscopic.  Touch is next to impossible for almost everything.  I need to use a PDA stylus for selection and the screen is difficult to read.  My projector's native resolution of 1400x1050 is out of the question.  Ideally, being able to set the graphics card to 1400x1050 for the 100" screen and 800x480 (physical resolution) or 640x480 on the 7" screen would be ideal.  With VISTA booting into Media Center automatically, the 7" screen is perfect for checking videos or selecting music without having to turn on the projector and letting it warm up.  Origami would be a benefit when minimizing or closing Media Center to configure or update the HTPC, checking videos or selecting music without having to turn on the projector and letting it warm up.  Also, computer updates, downloads, etc. don't need a 100" screen.

Origami can make a high end HTPC with a 7" or larger touch screen even more impressive.  Is this a possiblility?

    Re: Dual Monitors

Media center is not designed to run on two screens, there are tricks to have it 'release' the mouse so you can use it on the secondary screen, but I prefer to use a 'real' remote to control it.

I know some use a build-in 7" touchscreen that clones the display, the media center is controllable that way because it scales, if you want to use other things (like file-browsing) then yes you might get into problems with scale.

IR remotes including eHome receiver are about 25 euro.

I run the media center on the second screen (connected to a beamer or LCD TV) not in clone mode, I use the primary screen in its native mode for the rest (my current HTPC is a laptop actually).

Have you considered using a remote with Windows SideShow built in? That may be the solution you're looking for.

You're suggesting he buy a $350 remote, when he has a +$1000 UMPC? That's sub-optimal at best. I'd imagine it'd be easy for MS to make a Media Center Plugin that'd accept remote commands I wonder, have you considered simply running remote desktop/VNC?

Ah, nevermind. I'm missing the point. :p

VNC or Remote Desktop are probably your best bets.

    Touchscreen Media Center w/ ORIGAMI

I FULLY UNDERSTAND what is being asked.  Question is would the ORIGAMI Team allow this to OFFICIALLY be done on a full fledged Vista PC vs. an UMPC.  According to what I've read, the software can only be run on an UMPC.  IF Origami 2.0 was playing from a 7" screen on a Media Center PC, then you can enjoy the music specifically w/ the main monitor off, and at the same time, display the weather forecast everytime it boots up.

So what do you say Origami Team?  Any chance we can get this to run on Media Center PCs w/ small touchscreens?  I hope so.  Whenever someone asks about building a PC, I sure would use the interface on a touchsreen (ala jukebox front-end).

    PS,
If you do one day allow this, how much would it cost to buy the software in order to legally resell it?Big Smile [:D]
