With RAM price dropping at where I am at, I have decided to upgrade to 2GB for my Q1.  But so far I am having Blue Screen after Blue Screen.

I have check at the Bios that the 2GB has been recognized but once I have finish booting up WinXP, there come a flash of Blue Screen and the machine will restart and the cycle continue on.  I have swap back to 1GB and found out the error code of 322205 while Windows reporting the error to MS.

For those who have upgrade to 2GB for their Q1, any special step or tweaks that I have to take or do you have similar experience on your upgrade.  I have read thru the post on upgrade in the Q1 Ultra which seems very straight forward.

I have the latest BIOS install in my Q1 and I am sending the RAM back to the shop for testing.  What else should I try?

I didn't have to do anything special with the upgrade from 512k to 1g and from 1g to 2g. It's sounds like bad RAM. I'm assuming you got it seated right and everything given that when you went back to 1g everything worked.

I have a Q1 P with 1Ghz and i pusched my UMPC to 2GB of Ram.

The RAM workly  fine:

2GB Kingston SO-Dimm PC4200/533 CL 4
PartNumber		HV202W48DE

the Modul is 100% working in the Q1P.


the original non removal disk ist very slow.

I exchanged it approximately to a Sandisk U5000 SSD  with 32GB.

Vista starts very fast!

I nove  I look for now a processor to rig Pentium M ULV 753 or 773.

The 723 with 1Ghz is already rather weak.

I am an electronics engineer and must see whether it be soldered can?

Could you provide the information on the type (specifically brand and model number) of the pulled hard drive?  Also, did you have any issue with the hard drive cable?

I used OCZ SODIMM DDR5400 2GB. No problems. Q1P Xp.

In the early versions of the Q1, there were some blue-screen problems after upgrading ram.

This was due to the restore section on drive not being large enough...If I remember right there was an update from Samsung on CD ( different version )... Also another fix was to delete the section and let it resize as needed for the extra ram space.

( sorry don't remember more, try a search back to about Jan 07 or maybe someone else remembers better )

The fix mentioned by Tom was to fix the  multimedia partition.  But it did not produce any Blue Screen of Death.  What we are seeing here points to a faulty RAM.

Just run a memory testing diagnostic on it like this one:
