The major problem with that game (WoW) is that it does  not have a demo that I could download. At least I have not found it.

Since Worlds of Warcraft is an online, massively-multiplayer game, offering a demo for it wouldn't really be practical.  With most online games like that, they offer a free time-limited trial.  In the case of WoW, it looks like the only way to get a free trial is through "guest passes" that they periodically give out to current subscribers to give to friends.

Well, it's not Halo... but I got it's predecessor Marathon to run:

Alas, as a FPS it does need a keyboard in order to have enough control inputs.

    Re: Plays PC games?

With the games that people have gotten working, how many can be fully installed onto the hard disk and don't require that you keep an external optical drive attached due to copy protection?

Obviously, the need for higher-end graphics and processor are a major impediment to running many games on UMPCs, but I actually see copy protection as almost being a bigger issue.  Even many games that should work fine on a UMPC aren't going to really be truly portable.

Wendy, I tested Microsoft Age of Empires II in my eo and it did work.

That is very interesting, when we tested it, Age of Empires was panning in 800 x 600.  Are you not seeing that?

Yes, it was panning but you could move around easily and it seems to me that the game still playable in that way. But again... I'm not a gamer....

Forget it man! What do you think that you are buying?

    • 3-D graphics card with 128 MB memory and support for hardware transformation and lighting (256 MB video memory for higher detail display)
    • 2.4 GHz processor or equivalent
This devices do not have support for Transformation and Lighting and the morst you get is 64 MB of Shared Memory.

And lets don't talk about processor. ;-)

If you can play this game probably you would see people playing Halo.

About Playing games with a Keyboard attached. I have been looking for games that do not require a Keyboard attached. If you have to carry this keyboard with you to play

Of what mobility you are talking about?
I have not had time to look too much into FPS games but I remember that some of them only required a joystick. In this kind of games you can easily set the few hard keys in your UMPC (in the case of the eo 6 that you can use) and to move around to use the joystick and the keypad of the eo. The major problem is to find a game that works with these video chips, few hot keys and from the HDD.

you should give Black and White a try.  I don't know about the hardware requirements but it offers a unique gaming experience that is based solely on mouse controls(if i remember correctly)  and the stylus may actually work welll with it(you draw basic symbols with your mouse or stylus to get your character to perform actions)

Should easily run if you can find a demo.
    "
    • 350 MHz Pentium II MMX processor
    • 64 MB RAM
    • DirectX 7.0a (supplied with CD-ROM)
    • DirectX 7.0a-compliant sound card
    • PCI/AGP 8 MB 3-D hardware accelerator card with Direct3D support
    • 600 MB free hard disk space

    Cooe:
It may pass in the CPU and RAM areas but we still have no idea what type of graphics card these units will have, and second of all the units don't have built-in CD drives so unless you want to lug around a external one wherever you go makes you wonder if it's just a better idea to play it on your desktop...

Actually we do, I had done a term paper on graphics processors of current "computers" (blanket term there) The data is out there... better yet i'll post part of the paper.

The graphics for the Q1 will be run by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900, which is capable of using DirectX 9.  The GMA 900 is designed to work with Pentium 4 class processors to do graphical processing.  With the GMA, 3D processing is broken up into four stages.  That first stage, the geometrical processing is done by the CPU and the integrated graphical processor then follows by completing the vertex processing, texture application and rasterization, which are the other three layers.  The GMA has four pixel pipelines and a GPU that runs at 333 MHz.  The GMA also offers a maximum of 128mb integrated video memory.

TabletKiosk EO contains VIA’s VN800 chipset which is optimized for low power consumption.  The chipset includes the VIA UniChrome Pro integrated graphics processor.  The graphics processor contains a 200 MHz processor, 128-bit 2D/3D graphics engine, and has an internal data flow equivalent to the latest AGP 8X graphics cards.

CD drives, my thoughts on those, basically the UMPC is supposed to be "ultra mobile" adding a CD drive reminds me of my old Sony Walkman w/ Skip Protection.  IMO don't add more than is necessary.

    Re: Some games in Q1

Using Q1, some Korean guyes played WoW Online in low option. And, also played Winning 11 which is soccer game. Specially, when played the winning 11, they used the point stick and quick button.

Hey, DirectX 9.0 is already enabled in today GPUs! Or I'm totally wrong about the matter...
Yes, but we're talking about GPUs for UMPC devices. The amount of power that would be consumed by e.g. ATI Radeon X1300 is enormous - batteries would suffice for less than an hour, and that's definitely not "mobile". For mobile devices you have two options: cheaper and worse GPUs like those produced by Intel or mobile versions of desktop GPUs (e.g. ATI Mobility Radeon series). Those big mobile GPUs produce vast amount of heat and still require a lot of power. We can easily assume we won't see them inside UMPCs. At least not yet. :) Soooo... there will be not DX9 enabled GPUs inside UMPCs for some time.

    Regards, Ryan
