    TabletKiosk eo i72xx shipping status

They haven't shipped yet.  I couldn't restrain myself from asking them when/if it was going to happen.  Here's the reponse:
    Hello Mr. Easton,

We received the units in our warehouse late yesterday and we are currently performing burn-in test on these units, we anticipate we will begin shipping units today.  Thank you for your patience in this matter.

    TabletKiosk
    386 Beech Ave, Suite 6
    Torrance, CA 90501

    It's close, very close, now.

Ask me if I am bitter about STILL not having a dock available for my v7110.

According to this email sent by TabletKiosk to one of the user who preordered an i7200, they will start shipping these units next week.

Frank must be practicing his inking posts citing an earlier post in the same thread he's posting to, working on padding the post count ;)

They don't seem to have met the "By End of August" or even by end of this past week goal, at least with respect to my pre-order.  According to the comments here, the very first pre-order hadn't shipped as of Saturday (9/2).  So unless TK employees are doing some heroic holiday overtime work, they're not going to be shipped any earlier than Tuesday.  This is one case where a long holiday weekend can be a bad thing :)

I just did not want to create anew thread about the same thing ;)

The post count is not that important.  If I add all my posts in all forums I usually post I have more than 20000. :)

Hey there, I recieved this email from Tablet Kiosk last night. so i guess you can call this an 'update'.I'll probably be one of the last ones to get my umpc because i ordered it on monday night.

    me.

    TabletKiosk to me

Thank you for your order, we have just began shipping pre-orders for these units and should have all orders filled and shipped within the next 7-10 days. A sales invoice will be sent under separate e-mail.

Re: TabletKiosk eo i72xx shipping status

Yeah, they've been shipping.  It looks like Dennis at gottabemobile.com, the first preorderer, is getting his today.  I preordered on Aug-10th and have an order  in the mid 900's and mine is going out today (I don't know if the order # has anything to do with the sequence of pre-ordering).  Mine would have gone out yesterday were it not for a billing snafu with my credit card company.  It's happening!!! Yeah!

    *sighs*

    your very lucky!!

. I just recieved an email  (and yes i know im one of those impatient people who pester people with emails.)

Thank you for contacting TabletKiosk.  We have received your order, however at this moment we have stopped shipping units due to a identified software driver issue.  We anticipate we should have this issue resolved within the next 72 hours at which time we will resume shipping these units.

that email was recieved  15  hours ago... according to gmail.  So ...i wait. LOL at least its coming in about the same time as my keyboard from brando workshop.

    so its all good

Re: TabletKiosk eo i72xx shipping status

I wonder which issue this is.

I had an issue with my video drivers.  I had some fairly old drivers that didn't allow me to do screen rotation through the control app that pops up when you hit the SRS (C-A-D) button or through the Intel control panel.  I happened to be talking with tech support about another issue (just a moment on that) when they guy I was talking to asked about my video and then sent me updated drivers.  I've installed the new drivers and now screen rotation works some of the time, but not all of the time.  The bigger issue I originally had was that, when switching to 800x600 and 1024x768 resolutions, the touch screen settings wouldn't be switched roperty all of the time requiring me to recalibrate the touch screen.  That was very annoying.  I wonder if they're postponing shipping to ensure that the units all have the latest drivers or if they're waiting to get a driver update to make sure screen rotation works solidly.

BTW, I am not VERY lucky.  I'm sort of lucky.  I happen to have a hardware problem that's going to require an exchange for a new unit when they become available.  The post on the TouchStyk control isn't properly aligned with the bezel.  So I can't move the stick in all directions properly.  I've popped the cap that your finger rests on out for the time being, but TK has given me an RMA and will let me know when an exchnage unit is in.  So in the end I'll have to re-setup the system and maybe be without a UMPC for up to a week.  Still their very nice not making me return the current unit immediately.  Thanks TK.

One last issue I've seen is that the SRS popup app (called SMM for System Management Master) doesn't wake up during a resume from hibernate properly.  It does fine resuming from Standby.  I can't imagine that this would be a stop-shipping issue.

I do understand your disappointment though.  I'd rather have a machine in hand with nuisance problems than no machine at all.

    Pretty good.

I have had some problems with screen calibration and video drivers.

The tech support at TabletKiosk has been very nice and helpful though.  This weekend after reporting more video issues, I got a response that they're having several different problems with the Intel drivers and are working with Intel to get them fixed.  So that's probably what yours is delayed from.

As for the screen calibration problem, I'm going to getting mine swapped out for replacement eventually, so if it is a hardware defect then that problem will go away.

I have had to do a little workaround to get the SMM popup panel to work after a hibernate.  Read here or here in case the problem isn't resolved by the time you get yours.

Other than that, I've been quite happy.  I just had it with me on a trip out of town on Saturday and used a Holux GPSlim 236 bluetooth GPS receiver and DeLorme Street Atlas 2006 to find a couple addresses on the fly.  I've never used GPS other than fun experimentation with friends' devices, nor have I used any in-car navigation products.  So I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked.  Now I just need to finish the in car mount for the thing.  BTW that GPS receiver and the i7210 are very nicely color coordinated (black/silver) :).

I've been watching a number of TV shows on it late at night after getting my boy to sleep.  I record them on a video capture card on my Mac and then watch them later.

And I'm using MS Journal a lot to take notes where ever I am.  It's much nicer than having scraps of paper lying about and you can search them later.  After about a week I've gotten pretty confortable using the TIP for handwritten entry and can write a lot pretty fast now with few errors.

BTW, have you taken a look at Dennis Rice's videos of the i7210 at GottaBeMobile.com?
