ZhuBaJie:
Stefan:For other members: the drivers can be found here:http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us (Enter R2H in the left-upper field showing "Input model to search")
Maybe I ain't looking good enough but I can't find anything related to the fingerprint reader on that site.
Can you tell me where to look and what to look for?
Thanks, Marcel
From the downloadable files for the R2H, choose tab "Utilities". There you will find "Fingerprint driver and utility", size ~12MB. Normally I too would expect them under the "Drivers" tab.

Does anybody know if and, if so, where I can reassign the hardware keys on the R2H?
I would like to thy the Sony UBoard for some time but it needs a hardware key to be useful.
Most keys need to keep their setting but I can live without the Up and Down buttons.

rovinge:Klokkie, ZhuBaJie,
Regarding the memory if decided to take the change and I've ordered a 1GB S0-Dimm. I'll expect the specific Dimm to be delivered Monday at the earliest, so expect an answer to that early next week (fingers crossed....).
What I've done is I had a look at the specications of memory certified by Asus on their website (support site, FAQ search on R2H), than checked on the Infineon (now Qimonda) vendor site for similar 1GB S0-dimms and decided to go for the 1GB, 128x64, PC2-5300, 5-5-5 (*) one because that one was quite similar as the certified 256/512MB ones on ASUS's site.
Found a company in the Netherlands with that specific article number and its now a wait and see.......
(*) (Details http://www.qimonda.com/computing-dram/ddr2/so-dimms.html)
I'll let you guys know.

Hi, guys, rovinge, I take it that the memory hasn't come yet. I am really curious about the maximum amount of memory. Although I know it wouldn't arrive before today, I checked the forum every half an hour for the whole weekend. Please keep us posted. I didn't get my R2H and I am still slightly undecided between the cheaper Dutch version or the fully specified unit. One thing the would probably help me decide would be the maximum amount of memory. I thought that all R2H had a maximum of 768MB RAM. What is this I hear that some units allow for an extra 512MB? If that would be a difference between the two units, I would go for the most expensive, whereas I would by the cheapest one if both had the same maximum amount (weather 768 or 1280MB). Can anybody confirm that? If rovinge finds out that the cheaper R2H takes 1280MB, that will be excelent, if not, can anybody confirm that the other version supports 1280MB? Also, if it sure by now that the only difference is Bluetooth and camera? How about TV-Out and SD slot? Is it present on the Dutch model? I hope to receive my R2H sometime next week. Until then, someone please post a review!!! I'm dying to find out more about it! Thanks a lot for your informations. Best of luck to you all with your UMPCs.

I also have the Dutch version. The Mycom website says it can handle 768MB of memory. The box says it can handle 1280MB. (But the box also says it has a webcam and bluetooth)
I'm planning to visit a local shop this afternoon to try a 1GB DIMM. Hopefully they have it in stock and are willing to try it...
TV-out and the SD slot are both present on the Dutch version.
Stefan.

Roypierce:In stead of the Sony Uboard, you could try 'Inscribe' from Ilium Software. You can get it for free on this link: http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/fp/inscribe.htm For as far as i can see it has allmost the same features and maybe even more.
Thanks! this is really a gem! MUCH better! Roypierce:Sadly enough i still don't have the R2H yet, otherwise i would have tried Phatwares PenOffice. Within PenOffice there is PenCommander. With PenCommander you can define PenCommands to do different things, as for instance start applications. So, in stead of using a hardware button you can define a PenCommand to start Uboard or Inscribe. I have PenCommander on my PPC, and it works great. On my PPC i use PenCommander for instance to insert HTML-tags.
I have the demo but didn't install it yet. I'll give it a try. Roypierce:I found this program. But i don't know if it works on the R2H. http://www.tokash.org/software/tbpm
Thanks for the link. I tried it but it doesn't work on the R2H. It seems the UMPC keys are not defined like Tablet PC keys. I get the message : This computer does not appear to be running Windows XP Tablet Edition. Can't find HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\TabletPC\ButtonMaps in the registry.Big Bummer!
Since no one else who has the R2H already has answered my previous message I guess I'm out of luck and the keys can't be redefined.
Anyone???

klokkie:i don't see e desktop > graphics options > (intel dialog pops up) > display settings
when i right click on graphic options i see - > "output to", "panel fit", "hot keys", "tray icon". can someone tell where I can find it?
My bad. It's:
Right click on desktop > graphics *properties*, then you see an Intel pop-up and there you need to select 'display settings'.
On a similar note, has anyone managed to get the TV out to work? I've tried just setting it to single display and TV, that didn't work. Output it as a secondary... didn't work either. I apply the settings, it switches and asks if I want to keep the setting, I OK the dialog and it just shows 'notebook' checked as single display.
I'm using a standard cable with a standard TV. The cable definitely works since I also use it with my Archos Gmini 500 which also has a TV out.
So, for those of you that can output to a TV, what settings are you using?
Zhu,
Regarding remapping the keys: I haven't found anything that would do it. If the application supports it you might be able to remap it (like with games) but I don't think there's a way to remap it out-of-the-box for say... starting particular apps.

So when ASUS say the R2H is " officially available" .....what does that mean? I thought the R2H was announced August 25, 2006? I love this quote "The new announcement doesn’t offer anything much more than we already know..." I had preordered mine last week. All this news of availability is making me anxious!

FYI - There is a new BIOS v2.05 available for the R2H at ASUS.
Description:
BISO 205 Fix bug that show incorrect model name if no insert DRAM on channel 1 when using Winflash/Aflash2/Easyflash.

PS: Alas, I can't cut and past a direct link to the ASUS download site.

Thanks for informing us.
I, however, wait for a newer one with more interesting changes. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
