Re: More news now about the Q1b
Great Matt, can't wait to see how nice(or not) it is. Could you check the handwritten recognition and the sensitivity to pen writing input? I'm curious if it has a spongy screen like the old Q1. Seriously thinking of getting the Q1b. I hope it's as good as it appears.
Thank you,
Jerry.

Re: More news now about the Q1b
If they have not included the HID Drivers in this new Q1b - and as far as I know they did not - the handwriting will look bad, nothing close to your normal handwriting. Other things relative with HID Drivers are: Also, because the Samsung Q1 doesn't have some required firmware for
HID digitizers you don't get the floating TIP, Touch Pointer, etc. * * - Source.

propstm, I would like to see if they got finally working the C3 State on that device. Of course, some battery life tests in different tasks would be good. And of course, some benchmarks tests with 3DMark 2001 and COSBI Benchmark.

Just two... 3DMark2001OSMarkand How long the battery, 1-Playing a movie withwifi off and BT off - and with WiFi or BT ON (WiFi and BT On could be another test but it's less probable to have this situation in real life) 2-Browsing the web

Re: More news now about the Q1b
I just got informed from Newegg that they will refund rather than replace my defective Q1b since it's out of stock. Kudos to Newegg for quick and fair process, but now I need to order again. Is there any other vendors who has Q1b in stock? CDW shows 2 to 4 days, and I didn't have good experience with them before. I'm tempted to pick up Celeron Q1 which can be found much easier, but that short battery life seems to kill the all the benefits of mobile device. Decision time...

Re: More news now about the Q1b
ignar, I haven't regretted buying the Q1. And I bought mine from CDW.
In my view, you can't go wrong with either, though (GASP!), the Q1 is a bit dated now. (Not even 6 months after I bought it, dagnabit!)

Re: More news now about the Q1b
Woadan:Helmut,
I haven't seen anything coming out that has made me reconsider the "wisdom" in buying the Q1. the bad news is, nothing is making me think it's time for an upgrade.
Woadan
But he is talking about the Q1b. We have not seen yet any data about how this one performs, the only thing known is the battery life.

Re: More news now about the Q1b
I decided to go for an Asus. I've considered R2H before, but disappointing battery life turned my interest off. But, I've learned US version will be shipped with high capacity battery which reportedly will last 4 hours. The downside is it will be heavier (R2H is already a bit heavier than Q1B, so I'm somewhat concerned). On the other hand, it has GPS, camera, and faster CPU compared to Q1B, and better looks IMO. It will be here tomorrow, and I just wish this one comes without any defects. ;)

Re: More news now about the Q1b
Hi propstm, congrats on receiving your new toy. What's your first impressions of your Q1b? How is that joystick and the new, less spongy, screen? Is the device as lite feeling as they say it is?
Thanks, Jerry.

Re: More news now about the Q1b
Ok, here's the initial reaction & rundown. Not Steve and Frank haven't done any "official tests" however today I went to my 3 classes with the Q1b fully charged, turned it on at 8:40am and kept it on and used it for 3 classes. I had WIFI on the entire time and changed brightness a few times. I'd say 70% of the time I had it on the lowest brightness setting with about a half hour total of having the brightness up above 3.
here's the breakdown of battery use (i jotted a little note every hour): Q1b on at 8:40am 1 hour gone battey at 74% 2 hours gone battery at 53% 3 hours gone battery at 22% Battery died at 12:14pm
Total time: 3 Hours, 34 Mins
I'd say that i'm liking it thus far. Journal is fairly useful, however I need to get a external cd drive hooked up because i've got a brand new boxed copy of OneNote that i'm waiting to put on it. Also I still need to install Office. IE7 is great, however i'm not a fan of the fact that the Q1b doesn't want to allow me to use handwriting in the TIP for this site. :-(
More tests this evening.
