Re: More news now about the Q1b

For my planned usage of a UMPC the Q1 is currently still my choice of near future purchase over the Q1b or the TabletKiosk. I will be purchasing the UMPC as an entertainment unit with occasional use for "work".

It will be mostly used for audio and video playback, photo viewing, ebook reading, TV streaming with a Slingbox, and internet access. Secondary usage may be GPS navigation in a car, and occasional documentation composition and viewing. So the quick boot AVS player and the stereo speakers are big pluses for me in the Q1. I already have a few high capacity CF cards so the CF slot of the Q1 is also a plus.

I do not see anything that the TabletKiosk has that would make me prefer it over the Samsung except for maybe the eraser mouse. And the pending Asus unit seems to be even less desirable to me.

Price is about the same now for the Samsung and TabletKiosk units when configured the same.

If I had a Q1 I do not think I would upgrade to a Q1b. But I will need to decide which one to buy initially.

Re: More news now about the Q1b

The Q1b and another new Q1 are starting to show up at some web stores with prices but no other details on them and no details on availablilty. The CDW web site does list some numbers in the description that can be interpreted for the HD and RAM sizes.

Search the web for mfg#  "NP-Q1bV000" and "NP-Q1-V002".

Thanks for the info Helmutk. I've posted something on the Journal now. $899 is a great price.

Re: More news now about the Q1b

None of the websites that list the new Samsung units have them in stock and most all say they will ship in 2 - 3 weeks. I talked to a salesman at CDW and he said there is no ETA at this time for the Q1 Pentium unit and they are not taking pre-orders on it at this time.

Even though we know one lucky person that did get one from a Fye's store I imagine they will be generally available in the 4th quarter as previously anounced. So perhaps we'll start to see this ship in the beginning of October.

Hi. My name is Pong. I'm an international student. I live in MD. I'm new here. After I read a lot on this website, I felt like I want to be a part of this blog. Information on this site is very helpful for the beginner like me. So I just wanna share my experience with you guys. This website is awesome.

Ok. This is my story. I just ordered Samsung Q1b on Friday 13th from Newegg.com. After I had been searching for Q1b on Google about 5 days, I found it available for sale today Friday 13th. At first I was not sure that it really was Q1b. So I chatted with someone on Newegg website, and Bingo, she said she had three items left. I ordered it right away after that. I'm so excited. It will arrive to my house on Monday(16th) via Fedex overnight shipping. I will share my experience with you guys again after I get it. See you.

Hi. Congrats on your new Q1b. I also noticed the newegg had them in stock and ordered one on Saturday. Now newegg is out of stock, and it appears you and I are two lucky buyers who took two Q1b's out of three they had. :)

Mine won't be here until Wednesday, but I assume you got yours by now? Hope you like it and if you have time, please share your impression.

Re: More news now about the Q1b

Hi Pong and anyone else who is about to receive a Q1b. I wanted to know if you could verify if it comes with stereo speakers, an ethernet port possibly, user configurable buttons, a real battery life of about 5hrs, and if it runs Age of Empires 2 installed which the previous Q1 could not.

I'm not into video games but I do enjoy playing that one on occasion.     Thanks, Jerry.

Re: More news now about the Q1b

I've got it already. It has only one speaker and doesn't have ethernet port. It comes with configurable button, but I haven't tried it yet. However, it's awesome. The screen is very bright, I think. When I checked the battery, it showed 3.30 hours (the battery was 70%).The battery could be last for 5 hours when this sweetest baby is in maximum battery mode, no wireless and no attached other external device.

If I have time, I will show the pictures of my Q1b.

    Congrats on the purchase Pong!
I've ordered my Q1b from CDW.
Originally I was told my item would ship Monday the 16th,   Still no shipping notification.  I guess i'll just have to site and wait.

Thanks. Actually I ordered it from CDW in the first place, but I found Q1b on Newegg.com later. And they had it in stock by that time, so I changed my mind and ordered from Newegg. By the time I ordered from CDW, sales representatives told me that they gonna have about 30 Q1b in their stocks on Oct 20th. I think your order gonna be shipped out on Oct 20th. Good luck, Propstm.

P.S. So far, my q1b has been working very well. Sometimes I think it even worked faster than my X41 Tablet (centrino 1.2 Ghz).

Re: More news now about the Q1b

It's funny because I was content with it being sent out whenever they got them in stock, then they had to call to confirm my shipping address and I happened to ask when the device would ship.  The woman said her computer showed my device having an estimated ship date of the 16th?

    Oh well.

Sounds fantastic. 4 hours battery life. I knew that VIA C7-M would perform eventually.
Can you see what capacity the battery is? (either by looking at the casing or by running Notebook hardware control software.)
Does it come with the Cellular radio?
