thanks guys i am checking my PM's  please tell me if this works and how it looked on your computer.

This isnt your ordinary skin,  100's of hour of code for the resizing feature and touch interface.

Re: New winamp Car Audio skin for UMPC

Very nice progress so far.  I like the button size.  It's very touch friendly and slick looking.

    There are some issues though:
    * When switching to the playlist, library, or changing the visualization modes, the screen scretches out too far vertically down.  It stays like this unless I go to config->misc and toggle the stretch mode.
    * In 800x480 resolution, the volume up/down, Repeat, and shuffle buttons overlap above and below.
    * The playlist and library scrolls bars are too small for a touch interface.  Probably a Winamp issue.

Keep up the good work. :)

Re: New winamp Car Audio skin for UMPC

From your specs: "Monitor and video card capable of 1024 x 768 resolution highly recommended, 800 x 600 minimum.".

Unfortunately most current UMPC's have a native resolution of 800x480. This can be scaled to 800x600, but at a quality penalty. For optimal compatibility with the current UMPC's, you should support 800x480.

    Cheers! Stefan.

Re: New winamp Car Audio skin for UMPC

Is this a standard that is alway going to be 800x480?     What about the other UMPC's  all 800x480?

I am going to bring our main coder in here to try to get this solved.  How does the playlist and media library look?  Is it too small?    What other tips do you have?

Re: New winamp Car Audio skin for UMPC

    Everything looks good so far.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks with my UMPC.  Some of my files are extermely long hundreds of minutes and i do forget where i'm at sometimes.  The only thing that's missing for me is a slider so I can move the position of the file.  FF and Rwd never seem to work good enough for me.

Well, the definition of what's an UMPC is a bit hazy at the moment, but as for most of the 1st generation UMPC's, they are 800x480 native resolution.

The playlist is ok..  Increasing the font size helps a lot.  I don't like scroll bars at all in a touch interface.  That's just my opinion though.
The library is extremely cramped and isn't suited for touch.

I guess that's just the way Winamp's library and playlist is.  If you can modify those areas, that would be sweet though.

I'd take a look at some other front ends such as Centrafuse, Road Runner, Streetdeck, and even the Origami Experience for some ideas on some good touch interfaces good for CarPC's.

Re: New winamp Car Audio skin for UMPC

Thanks and noted! We will try to get this the way you guys like it.  Also Those high end Car pc interfaces are way above and beyond this.  This is just for your regular pc car user,  not a whole setup. Also-- Anyone want to take a picture of this in action for me so I can put it on the site.   Screenies and real camera shots would be so cool!!  I am going to send the link to the rest of the people that PMed me.

Re: New winamp Car Audio skin for UMPC

hey i'm the coder of the CTI skin,

rodfather, can u give me a screenshot of this bug:
    * When switching to the playlist, library, or changing the visualization modes, the screen scretches out too far vertically down. It stays like this unless I go to config->misc and toggle the stretch mode.
or how much pixels is the window positioned wrong?

the skin works now 100% w/ 800x480, no overlapping :)

    * The playlist and library scrolls bars are too small for a touch interface. Probably a Winamp issue.

no chance to alter the bar width - as you've said, a winamp issue

    Here you go:
    Normal
    Library Stretched
    Playlist Stretched
